Funktion-One

Funktion-One was formed in 1992 by Tony Andrews and John Newsham, following their departure from Turbosound, a British company focused on sound systems for music festivals they had started in 1978. They decided to name their company Funktion-One, spelling Funktion with a k as a reference to 1970s funk music.
In 1999, following eight years of research and development, Funktion-One completed its first major project by designing and installing a sound system for the Millennium Dome’s Central Show in London. Since then, these systems have been popularly employed in notable dance music venues across the globe including Berghain (Berlin, Germany), Jaeger (Oslo, Norway), Cocoricò (Riccione, Italy), Marquee (New York, US), The Block (Salt Lake City, US), Laura’s Shed (Kinvara, Ireland), École Privée (Montreal, Canada), Smartbar (Chicago, US), Colosseum (Jakarta, Indonesia) and Shelter (Amsterdam, Nether- lands), among others.
