CUE
ADDPMP659
An artificial intelligence basketball-playing robot created by Japanese automotive manufacturer Toyota, that scores 100 percent of its shots.
Since 2004, Toyota has focused on developing Partner Robots, based on the concept of supporting human activity and coexisting with humans. This 1.9m (6.2 ft) robot, named CUE (“nine” in Japanese), was originally developed in 2018 by Toyota volunteers in their free time. Sensors on its torso help him to calculate the distance, angle and strength and it then uses its motorized arms and knees to shoot the hoop, with nearly 100-percent accuracy at short distances. For now, it can’t dribble or jump.
In 2020, the second-generation CUE, CUE2, was registered as a player by the Alvark Tokyo professional basketball team in Japan; it was the first time in the history of the Japanese professional basketball league.
